I don't work anymore...

I haven't worked since May 2023 when I got laid off, and I don't want to work anymore.

I don't plan to work ever again, at least not in the traditional sense.

So let's start with why. Why do I not want to work anymore? I mean, I don't know if anyone really cares why, but in case anyone does, because maybe you'll relate to this, I decided not to go back to work because, quite frankly, work sucks. Um, I don't want to be a wage slave anymore, meaning I don't want to be dependent on some company to give me money so that I can live. I don't want someone telling me what I can and can't do with my time, when I can and can't take time off, and I don't want a significant part of the best years of my life to be spent working for some company and making someone else money. I live one life, and I want as many hours as possible to be mine.

Saving, Investing, and Moving

Okay, so now how did this happen? How is it that I don't work anymore when I didn't win the lottery, I'm not a millionaire, and I didn't even have six-figure savings? In short, it was saving, investing, and moving. To start with saving or budgeting, to be fair, I had planned to stop working for a while because I was burnt out. So I had already started saving some money for that purpose, right? Um, and I looked over the finances, Happy Bear and I, and we decided that, you know, there are things that we could pull back on, that we don't need to spend money on anymore. There are things that we could cut out. Um, and then we saved money. I do plan to talk in more detail about this later on in the channel, but as an aside, yes, both me and my husband do not work. He's not opposed to it, uh, and he has some plans of his own, but we both don't work right now.

The next thing was investing. So what I'm talking about is my home, or what was my home, my house. Initially, this wasn't meant to be an investment, um, and homes usually aren't an investment unless you're making money from them, right? So we had planned to live in our home for a long time, but once I got laid off and considering I didn't want to work for a while, and then I didn't want to work anymore, we realized we would need to change our living situation to make that happen. So we rented out the home, and now it's an investment that makes us money every month, and we live off of that investment now. Yes, like we could have stayed where we were. My husband could have probably made enough to cover our expenses due to his line of work. So I don't want anyone coming for him, but like why? Like why does he need to work when we can both not work? I want him home with me too, and living his best life. And as another aside, I will be talking more about this process of, like, getting a home and renting a home on my channel, um, because I think that many people would find my process interesting and helpful, but that's for later on.

Moving on, the last thing we did was move. Once we rented the home, we sold everything except the home and moved to another country where our rental income would cover our expenses. Now, I don't want to focus so much on the country because where I live may not be where you want to live or where it's best for you to live, but it was an easy decision for us because, like, it was just, it was a very soft landing. It's my husband's birth country, and we have family here, and we speak the same language, and I've lived here before, stuff like that. So it was very easy for us, but um, I do plan to talk more about this later on on the channel to give some tips and stuff for that type of move.

You can chance your life

So where does that leave me now? Well, I'm not necessarily going to stop talking about working online because I think it could still be valuable to many, many people. I think remote work is life-changing, um, and opens opportunities, at least it did for me. It was very life-changing for me, um, but that won't be the focus of my channel anymore. What I want to do on this channel is I want to inspire you to live your life, because what I did, you can do it too. You can change your life. I mean, I wake up, and you see me doing this here, I'm coloring, that's mostly what I do with my day now because I enjoy it. So that's what my channel is going to be about now, about inspiring you to live your life. So, uh, if you want to hear more about some of the things I talked about, like, you know, the saving or budgeting, or buying and renting a home, or moving, retiring early, you know, some topics like that, or related to that, I'd like you to do a few things. The first is to subscribe to my channel if you haven't already, because if you like this video, you're going to not want to miss the other ones. Uh, the next thing I'd like you to do is just leave a comment letting me know what topic you'd be interested in hearing most about, um, maybe from the things that I mentioned, like I know what I'd like to talk about and what I plan to talk about, but if there's something that you want me to delve deeper into, I'm happy to do that for you instead. And the last thing I'd like you to do is to share this video with someone you know, um, if you think it'll inspire them or, you know, maybe it could be a good conversation starter for you and your partner or you and your family, what have you? Um, anyway, so that's it. I just, I hope this was at least somewhat inspiring to you, but there is definitely more to come. And again, if I can do this, so can you.

See you later.
