A lot of my travel inspiration comes from what I discover on Instagram. Whether I'm looking for my next staycation or something off-the-beaten-path, Instagram content is a surefire way to see who's traveling where and what their experience is like.

As a black woman who often travels solo, it helps to see people who look like me at a travel destination so that I can gauge what my experience might be like. I've also had great experiences when it comes to reaching out to these accounts to ask for advice.

Here are 5 travel accounts run by black women that you should be following on Instagram.

@audraverse

One of my faves, Audra is someone who I reached out to and met in Hong Kong during a layover. Meeting her was warm, welcoming, and life-changing.

Give her a follow and check out her boutique resort-wear @beam_bold.

@thegallivantinggrandma

My brief meeting with Diamond over drinks and dinner was one of the highlights of my living in San Jose, Costa Rica. Diamond has hacked the travel lifestyle by being paid to housesit.

To the 50+ crowd, she demonstrates what it's like to thrive and truly experience freedom as she explores this beautiful planet without bounds.
