I had no one to ask advice to regarding solo female travel. All I got was "it's not safe."
Why this is needed...
I took my first plane ride the summer of 2008 to an internship in Oregon with IBM. On my second plane ride that same summer, I jumped out of it.
That next year, Jan 2009, I left DC for my second time on a plane to study abroad in Cyprus. That was my first international trip.
Afterwards, I wanted to travel so much more. I'd periodically ask my friends, and though they were willing to travel with me (in theory), they simply weren't able to.
In 2015, I took my first solo trip abroad. Solo as in, no group of fellow Americans to share a program together. No guidance from a tour company. Just me, my own research, my own confidence, and my own courage.
I had no one to ask advice to regarding solo female travel. All I got was "it's not safe."
Now, almost 10 years since my first solo trip ( * cries in elder millennial * ), I'm here to present you with solo female travelers, not because there's too few of thus, but to help connect you with those you can related to.
In the list below, you'll find some Latina travelers, Black travelers, Gen X, Y, and Z travelers, digital nomads, entrepreneurs, budget travelers, luxury travelers, and more.
I hope you can find the ones you can relate to and give them a follow.
